Animals - Our Planet's Barometers


More and more, wild animals are being used as indicators of the state of health of the global environment. Predators at the top of the food chain, such as Peregrine falcons and the belugas in the St. Lawrence River, are particularly affected by pollution caused by anthropic (human) activity. Although they do not feel the effects as quickly as other species do, the final blow is fulminating due to bioaccumulation.
