The matter of humans and animals sharing territory has become vitally important ever since we've come to realize that human activity is the main cause of the depletion of natural habitats. According to Environment Canada, 60% of the vanishing species are affected by problems related to habitat. If a given species can't find a viable home range, it will not be able to survive. Along with human population growth comes expanding urban development which further contributes to the fragility of the species. Human encroachment can compel some animals to abandon their territory thus jeopardizing their procreation. The construction of towns, villages and roads breaks up wildlife habitats and disrupts the natural flow of animals throughout the territory which in turn leads to the genetic isolation of the species.
