There are so many chimpanzees dying because of the work, the research that was done on them. They're dying of heart attacks, of kidney failure; they're dying from the terrible things that have happened. On the outside they look healthy and perfect and wonderful, and if you meet them you'd say: That doesn't look like a sick chimpanzee. But

when you cut them open you see all the damage that's been done. There are chimpanzees that had five and six hundred surgeries done on them. That's an incredible number – it's impossible for a body to endure that. They're very strong and they can endure an awful lot. They were infected with HIV, but they've eliminated the virus, so it's a joke,

it's quite a joke. We've spent billions and billions of dollars using chimpanzees for HIV research to find a cure for AIDS, and the chimpanzees are eliminating the virus all by themselves. So whose lives are we saving? We're not saving human lives; in fact we're actually, probably slowing down the progress.
