Henri Jacob was born in La Reine, in Abitibi, Québec. From a very early age, he liked to go off into the forest to enjoy the peace and quiet. He worked for a while in the logging industry then got involved in a recycling project with Canada World Youth. The experience made him realize that we need to protect the environment.
A founding member of an ecology group in the Val-d'Or region called REVE (Regroupement écologiste Val d’Or et environs), and president of L'ABAT (Boreal Action in Abitibi-Témiscamingue), Henri Jacob believes in down-to-earth actions when it comes to protecting nature and the environment. He has been involved in completing several projects, one of them being «l'École buissonnière», a nature interpretation site located in Dubuisson, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
Henri Jacob and Boreal Action were also involved in getting the Piché-Lemoyne forest, an important nesting area for migratory birds, designated as an area under the protection of the Québec government. Henri Jacob wants to give people the chance to rediscover and enjoy nature’s treasures in the hopes that they realize how fragile our ecosystems are.
