A Spectacular Capture

During a chase, we know the wolf is in the woods, so we have to coax it out, guide it from afar. All of a sudden we see an opening, that's where it's going to go down. The technician who's working with me usually has to hurry and get to the wolf quickly because it will use its carnassial teeth to rip right through the netting. The mesh is seven inches by seven

inches so it can quite easily get loose and escape the net. We have to move fast. So the guy jumps from the helicopter and rushes over and pins the animal to the ground with a Y-shaped stick. When I get there I tape its jaws. Once the wolf's muzzle is taped we're out of danger. But we still have to work fast. We blindfold
its eyes to minimize its stress and

we go about our business as calmly as we can. There have been no deaths; I'm very pleased about that.
