Denis Masse

A passion for nature

Denis Masse has always had a passion for animals. As a boy, he was fascinated with wildlife shows on TV, and told himself that one day he would work in the wilderness.

A native of St-Bruno-de-Montarville, near Montreal, Denis discovered wildlife in the Eastern Townships, where his grandparents took him during the summer season. Today, he satisfies his desire to understand nature by working at La Mauricie National Park.

By canoe, by seaplane or on foot

Denis Masse spends his life in the wilderness, taking in the surrounding sounds of a forest where many animals live in close contact. This biologist, who is also a wildlife technician, is equally concerned with ecology and animal life.

His playground is La Mauricie National Park and its magnificent landscapes, which he’s been criss-crossing in canoe, seaplane and on foot since 1987, working on various research projects aimed at preserving wildlife habitats and protecting animal species. Denis’ challenge is to explore the territory and gain a better knowledge and understanding of the links between animal species and their habitats.
